Simply put, I love to get people outdoors.

It seems my 35 years of life have been preparing me to be right here, ready to help you do just this. I remember clearly as a young boy pouring over stacks of outdoor magazines in my Metro-Detroit bedroom. It took some effort, but I pictured myself in those beautiful landscapes-- running through the tree-tunneled trails, kayaking wild rapids, and standing atop snow-capped mountains.

The road was not straightforward, but I know the little boy in his bedroom would be proud of how I've managed to make these visions lived reality. I've spent the last 20 years soaking up every bit of knowledge about the outdoors and adventure as I can. I worked in outdoor retail to learn about the gear I would ultimately come to use (and abuse). I tested my knowledge on months-long treks through the woods including the 6-month Appalachian Trail hike. I prepared for the unknown by going to school to be a firefighter and a paramedic. As a mountain guide in Zion National Park, I experienced the joy of sharing the wonders of the wild.

The outdoor adventure lifestyle journey is far from over for me but it may just be beginning for you; I would love nothing more than to help you take those first steps on your own journey toward the great outdoors.

Outdoor recreation, adventure sports, call it what you like - I love to play outside!

Since my first day of summer camp at age 8, I’ve been hooked! Riding a bike, skiing, wandering through forests on the hunt for mushrooms, or slogging up the side of a peak somewhere in the Cascades; I can’t think of a better way to spend my time.

What began as summers goofing around with cabinmates and catching frogs progressed as I aged and gained experience. Canoeing, backpacking, kayaking - there was nothing I wouldn’t try. By the time I stopped the seasonal work of summer camp, I’d spent 11 years leading youth and staff all over Michigan, the bush of Northern Ontario, and Alaska. I never stopped leading trips, but have broadened my horizons, managing outdoor gear and bike shops where I learned more than I thought possible about the stuff we take on our adventures. I’ve consulted for multiple organizations looking to improve their trips and taken countless adventures of my own on foot, bikes, skis, and across the water.

Through all that, I’ve built enduring relationships, learned countless lessons, and developed a love for the outdoors that continues to inform my daily decisions. I couldn’t be more excited that you’ve found us and I look forward to connecting with you as you plan your next adventure and gain passage to the outdoors.
